A few years ago, Goldman Sachs introduced the concept of the "Next-11 (N11)" countries - i.e. emerging markets with interesting growth potential. After the government's approval of "Doi Moi" ("renovation" in Vietnamese), Vietnam operated reforms in privatization, improved resource allocation by industrialization and urbanization as well as higher competitiveness through opening-up. Therefore, Vietnam stands out among the N-11 countries as having achieved the highest economic growth rate in recent years. Vietnam's economy today is mainly driven by higher productivity, labour input and accumulation of capital. It's main export commodities are crude oil as well as clothing and shoes.
