Hanoi/Munich, March 20, 2009 – analytica Vietnam, the newest spinoff of the international trade fair analytica, celebrated its successful premiere in Hanoi, Vietnam this week with some 3,132 visitors and 107 represented companies, 74 of which were exhibitors from eleven countries. The premiere of the trade fair for analysis, laboratory technology, diagnostics and biotechnology, which is organized by Messe München International, its subsidiary IMAG (International Fair and Exhibition Service) and the National Center for Scientific and Technological Information (NACESTI), met with a great deal of interest, underscoring the growing importance of these industries to the Vietnamese market. Vietnam itself is an attractive sales and investment market for international companies. The extensive program of related events and the popular analytica Vietnam Conference proved yet again that the global analytica network is more than just an exhibition platform.
 
According to Klaus Dittrich, Managing Director of Messe München GmbH, "The successful conclusion of the first analytica Vietnam, which came to a close today, demonstrates that our decision to add Hanoi to our proven analytica network was a good one. The fact that key international players such as Agilent, Eppendorf Asia Pacific, Hitachi Koki, Mettler Toledo and Shimadzu participated in this event and the extremely positive response among regional exhibitors confirmed the need for a suitable exhibition platform in this region of Southeastern Asia. Thanks to analytica Vietnam, we are at the beginning of the economic development of a new market that has a great deal of future potential."
 
The 74 international exhibitors, which include several companies from Germany, the UK, the United States and the Asian region, were extremely satisfied with the results of the premiere event – a fact also confirmed by the 33 participants at the German pavilion and the 3132 visitors. According to Ms. Ph. D. Barbara Schaffrath from Eppendorf Biochip Systems GmbH, which participated in the German Pavilion, analytica Vietnam demonstrated this market's potential and presented exhibitors with some very good business opportunities: “We were able to generate new prospects with key Vietnamese authorities. We also successfully introduced the new Eppendorf GMO screening technology to the market”.
 
Most of the visitors were industry representatives, followed by users from universities and the research sector. As a result, analytica Vietnam – like its sister events in China and India – established itself from the very beginning as an ideal business and networking platform for tapping this emerging economic market.

Mr. Adrian Hatton from PG Instruments Ltd.: “I have a positive response from the exhibition. The majority of business was from the local Vietnamese market, but provided a good combination of end users and distributors. All in all, a worthy exercise.“
 
First-rate program of related events
The analytica Vietnam Conference featured first-rate presentations from over 30 speakers as well as some very interesting discussions. In an extensive series of lectures, prominent experts informed the 287 conference attendees about new monitoring techniques and presented the results of recent studies as well as the latest research and development trends in biotechnology, metabonomics, analytical quality control, environmental analysis and chromatography. Organized by the Vietnam Analytical Sciences Society (VASS) and supported by the Research Center for Environmental Technology and Sustainable Development (CETASD) at Hanoi University and the Institute for Biotechnology (IBT) at the Vietnam Academy for Science and Technology (VAST), the conference did an effective job of bridging the gap between science and industry and, in doing so, between the conference and the exhibition. According to Prof. Dr. Pham Hung Viet from CETASD – the Research Centre for Environmental Technology and Sustainable Development – the conference was a great success and an opportunity for scientists and researchers in Vietnam to join together and share relevant information on a wide range of analytical science and technology as well as biotechnology.
 
analytica Vietnam also featured an attractive program of related events, the highlight of which was a workshop on the topic of quality and laboratory management in keeping with the ISO 17025 standard. On the last day of the exhibition, 18 public and private research organizations were accredited for that standard. The workshop furnished laboratory managers, chemists, quality managers and executives in the laboratory-technology sector background information and presented strategies for implementing the ISO standard.
 
The second analytica Vietnam and analytica Vietnam Conference will be held in spring of 2011.
